COLORFUL THANKSGIVING CENTERPIECE WITH SUGRU!
I’ve been working with this incredible product called Sugru for a few months now. I can’t believe the endless ideas and ways to use Sugru to fix things around the house, protect things, improve things and basically just make things better, as well as create the most beautiful DIY’s! The beauty of Sugru is that it is moldable glue that sticks to just about anything! Even pumpkins!
You can stick it to just about any material such as metal, glass, ceramics, most fabric, tin, vinyl, wires, plastic etc…I had a few pumpkins and a couple of packages of Sugru on hand so I thought I would create a last minute centerpiece for Thanksgiving! What a colorful conversation piece!
- A pumpkin
- Sugru (I bought mine at Target or on line) www.sugru.com
- Plastic cup
- flowers (real or silk)
Carve out your pumpkin
Decide which colors of Sugru you want to use to decorate.
Take the Sugru, one package at a time and roll it out to a perfect worm like shape.
Then place the rolled out Sugru in the creases of the pumpkin and drape them from top to bottom. Gently press to stick it onto the pumpkin and overnight it will harden to a colorful rubber – fun!
Take a plastic cup and place it in the center of the pumpkin for the flowers to stay in place. You can add water into the cup if the flowers are real. If they are silk flowers, then keep the plastic cup empty or you can put some sand in it to keep the flowers in place.
Note: the second pumpkin was made the same way except I made little balls with the Sugru I had left over and stuck them on easily.
Again, Sugru sticks to just about any surface including pumpkins!
